Arif Iqbal - Solicitor
Criminal defence solicitor with Duncan Lewis Solicitors
I have nearly a decade and a half’s worth of criminal defence litigation experience across the board from the police station through to the courts. I aim to provide expert and helpful advice. I will look after your best interests. I will create a team of specialists to suit your case and circumstances where required.
Notable cases that I have been involved in defending include:
- Mortgage fraud and money laundering. A defendant accused of involvement in a multi-million pound mortgage fraud over seven years, with the trial involving complicated forensic accountancy evidence. The defendant was acquitted of an allegation under the Proceeds of Crime Act at the close of the prosecution case and unanimously by the jury on the remaining counts.
- Sexual assault. A retired police inspector accused of sexual assault. The defendant was acquitted after a trial.
- Grievous bodily harm. A female defendant accused of throwing boiling water upon her husband. The allegation was one of grievous bodily harm. The outcome was a suspended prison sentence.
- Manslaughter. A defendant accused of leaving his elderly mother who suffered from dementia to die. Although convicted after trial, the defendant received a suspended prison sentence.
